Setting Up Your Stock Correctly With Salon Control

Salon Control has a excellent Stock Control system which when set up and used correctly will save you time and money. Firstly you will need to perform a full stock take of all your products that are in your business including retail products and products on the back bar. Once you have completely your full stock take you are ready to add this stock to Salon Control.

Adding Stock to Salon Control

To add adjust Salon Control’s stock levels go to Settings -> Stock Control -> Stock Adjustment and then enter your PIN if required.

You will be presented with the Stock Adjustment screen where you can adjust the stock on items added to the screen.

You will have to search for the product that you wish to adjust, you can do this by simply scanning the bar code of the product into the Scan Bar Code field like shown:

If the bar code doesn’t scan you can add products manually to the list using the   button, clicking this will display the Select Products window as shown below:

From this window you can search for products that are stored in your Salon Control system. For this example we are searching for “Aerosol rock spray” made by “Fudge“, once you have found the desired product click the Select button next to the product to add it to the list.

If you want to add multiple products to the Stock Adjustment screen Click the  button and you will shown the following window:

All products that are stored on Salon Control will be listed, you can select particular category from the Products Category drop down box. To select a product in the list simply Click it and it will become highlighted, if you wish to select more hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard and Click the products. Once you have selected all the desired products Click the Confirm button (Please note ONLY adjust 20-30 or less products at one time). The desired products will now be added Stock Adjustment screen as shown below:

Now that you have products on the screen there is three important details required for each product.

  • Ideal Stock Holding – This is the ideal/maximum stock level you wish to stock in your business for that particular product. Please note that for the initial set up of your stock we recommend changing this value to fit your business usage.
  • System Stock Level – Here will be displayed the current stock level of the product. Please note that for the initial set up of your stock this figure may be completely incorrect.
  • New Stock Level – In this field you must enter your actual stock level for the product as this will be the new stock level after saving.

If you do happen to make a mistake and have added a product by mistake and you do not wish to adjust it, simply Click the  button next to the product you wish to remove. Once you have entered all the Ideal Stock Holding and New Stock Levels simply Click the  button, the stock will be now adjusted on your Salon Control system.

Now that Salon Control now has the exact stock levels stored you will be able to create Purchase Orders and arrive Deliveries easily, please read THIS article for more details.

Scanning Out Stock

When you have products have been used in the salon and need to scanned out/written off follow these steps to correctly scan out used stock. Firstly go to your Calendar and Click a Stylists Profile Box at the top of the calendar as shown:

Once Clicked you will be shown the following pop up window and Click the In Store Usage button:

You will be shown the In Store Product Usage screen, where you can scan and manually add products that you wish to be scanned out:

To add products to be scanned out simply scan the bar code of the product into the Scan Bar Code: field and it will be added to the list, if the bar code does not work on the product you can search and add the product manually using the  button, you will then be shown the following pop up window:

All products that are stored on Salon Control will be listed, you can select particular category from the Products Category drop down box. To select a product in the list simply Click it and it will become highlighted, if you wish to select more hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard and Click the products. Once you have selected all the desired products Click the Confirm button then the desired products will now be added In Store Product Usage screen as shown below:

The last steps are to change the Quantity of each product used and then finally Click the  button.

By removing products used in store through this process it will ensure that your Purchase Orders are generated to the Ideal Stock Holding level.
